The Flood of '07

Jeff and I had a hard night. Our basement is halfway full of water, which means we have no hot water heater. On top of that, the central wall is leaking and the wallpaper is bubbling. In the middle of the night, our closet "ceiling" (a couple of pieces of board with a piece of MDF on top) fell down and there was just a steady stream of water. Lovely.

My school was cancelled because buses couldn't get through to some areas and so I'm here, grading papers, designing the newspaper, and biting my nails. I called my landlord and he's probably up to his neck in stuff to do - he cut me off when I was telling him about the problems here, just saying he had a lot to do and he'll get to it when he gets to it. Joy.

In the meanwhile, I'm getting my stuff out of the path of danger because I expect things to keep getting worse - the "top" to fall out, so to speak.

It's crazy because Jeff and I have been househunting, and the houses that we've been looking at have flooded - all of them. We were looking between 21st and 33rd, and sure enough, I saw video of one of them underwater. I think that God is really looking out for us because I can't imagine it right now. Just crazy.
